Research Interests:
Dr. Kaplarevic serves an interface between Delaware Biotechnology Institute research groups and the Bioinformatics Core Center. His expertise in parallel computing, data mining and informational systems design and development provides resident researchers with easier access to DBI's computational facilities.

Over a decade at the University of Delaware, Dr. Kaplarevic contributed to many inter-disciplinary research projects particularly in the area of parallel computing applied to microbial metagenome analysis. He is a former member and contributing author of the ECE CAPSL laboratory for parallel computing, where he has led projects in the bioinformatics subdivision. He has authored and co-authored number of journal publications, and served as a peer reviewer for accredited journals in the area of parallel computing and bioinformatics. Dr. Kaplarevic also serves as a grant review panelist for the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Kaplarevic's expertise covers topics in computational biology, data storage and management, biomedical applications design and development, application of high performance computing in genome research, genome annotation and analysis, machine learning, informational systems design and development, optimization of bioinformatics applications for cluster computing, application parallelization and developing for cellular computer architectures, object oriented, parallel and web programming.
