Axon Scanner and Axon GenePix Pro Software
The DBI Microarray Core Facility has the GenePix 4000B microarray scanner from Axon Instruments. It is a dual-wavelength scanner that scans glass slide microarrays with two wavelengths of laser light simultaneously. The scanner is available for use by researchers with supervision via the Core Facility. The Axon GenePix Pro software is used to acquire and analyze microarray images. A protection key (dongle) is required to operate the software. The Microarray Core Facility has two site licenses to allow researchers to utilize the GenePixPro software. One option is to use the software on the scanner computer workstation. Another option is to load the software onto a computer in the researcher’s own laboratory. To make full use of the second option, a USB port dongle may be borrowed from the Core Facility.
Fees
You may sign up for access to the Axon scanner and/or the GenePix software in one half hour timeslot increments. Use of the scanner or the GenePix Pro software on the scanner workstation costs $10 per hour for UD researchers and $15 per hour for non-UD researchers. The fee to borrow the USB port dongle is $10 per day. Prices are subject to change.
