The Protein Production Core Facility at DBI provides fermentation and purification capabilities for large-scale protein expression and purification. Two New Brunswick bioreactors, BioFlo 4500 for bacterial and yeast cells, and Celligen Plus for insect and mammalian cells, can deliver up to 22 L volumes for cell growth. The facility also includes equipment for cell rupture and for protein purification and characterization. The installation was established and is operated with the support of the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health as part of the COBRE in Structural and Functional Genomics at the University of Delaware.
