Research Overview:

Dr. Furst’s research focuses on the physics and chemistry underlying the behavior of polymeric and biomacromolecular fluids, with applications to biotechnology and biophysics. His group investigates structure, interactions and response using novel experimental approaches that enable the measurement of nano- and micro-scale properties over a wide range of timescales. These include optical tweezers, confocal microscopy, single-polymer studies and probe particle microrheology. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Physical Society, American Chemical Society, and Biophysical Society.

Dr. Furst is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the DuPont Young Investigator Award.
