Dr. Zurakowski’s research interests are in the area of nonlinear control theory and applications, especially in the area of mathematical biology and medicine. Dr. Zurakowski and his collaborators are working to develop mathematical descriptions of disease systems and to analyze the dynamics using nonlinear control techniques in order to suggest novel therapeutic approaches. Particular systems of interest are ONYX-015 replicating oncolytic adenovirus / MEK-inhibitor combination therapy for treatment of Pancreatic and Gastrointestinal tumors and treatment interruption scheduling for auto-immunization in early-stage HIV infection.
Since July 2006, Dr. Zurakowski has been at the University of Delaware. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. From 2004-2006 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology under Dr. Dominik Wodarz at the University of California, Irvine.
