Research Overview:

A University of Delaware faculty member since 1992, Dr. Schell teaches a variety of classroom and clinical courses in the undergraduate nursing program with focus on pathophysiology, adult nursing, and critical care nursing. She has held staff nurse positions in surgical-trauma and cardiovascular intensive care units. She has also been a staff development specialist for critical care units and a program director and instructor for a critical care nurse internship for new graduates at a large teaching hospital.

Dr. Schell has been involved in curriculum development and the integration of problem-based learning in the nursing classroom. She has conducted research in the areas of patient education, innovative teaching in the undergraduate classroom, and blood pressure measurement. She is a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Assocation of Critical Care Nurses, Delaware Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, the Beta Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Eastern Nursing Research Society, and Phi Kappa Phi.
