Research Overview:

Dr. Robinson’s research program focuses on molecular and cellular engineering. The main goal is an understanding of the fundamental interactions between molecules, both in isolation and in the complex environment of the cell. The Robinson group uses their growing understanding to design proteins with more robust or novel properties and to engineer cellular systems for improved production or drug screening applications. Her laboratory has developed several novel approaches to inhibiting protein misfolding and aggregation. Her lab is also designing cellular systems for optimal expression of membrane proteins, thermophilic proteins and polymeric molecules.

Dr. Robinson has published articles in a number of academic journals, including Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Nature Structural Biology, AIChe Journal.

She was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1994-97.
